QA/Software Tester

Salary: Dependent on experience

This position can be based in either Oxfordshire or London.

Job Purpose:

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic QA to join the Technology team and be responsible for software testing and quality assurance within new and existing software projects.

The right person will have a strong background in systems testing of desktop and web applications. You will be required to setup and look after any necessary test environments with assistance from the development and support teams.


  • Take responsibility for assuring that the software development deliverables meet business requirements 
  • Work closely with development and project teams to plan and agree appropriate acceptance test scenarios 
  • Analysing functional and design specifications to identify test requirements & creating new test cases
  • Document and execute integration, regression and acceptance tests
  • Document issues found during testing and working closely with the development team to prioritise and resolve
  • Provide and validate estimates and plans for testing new project work
  • Develop an extensive working knowledge of the in-house system
  • Participate in feature development from concept to design to construction in order to drive quality into the software application
  • Stay abreast of industry testing tools which may assist with day to day tasks in order to improve test coverage and efficiency
  • Work closely with the development & IT support teams to support releases during implementation and post implementation of UAT and Live

Personal Requirements:

  • Previous experience of testing web, desktop and service (API) based applications is essential
  • Experienced in creating batch / script files for testing
  • Experienced in automated testing script writing and execution
  • Previous experience of creating / developing custom regression testing frameworks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • An understanding of software test methodologies
  • Experience of using source control (TFS, SVN or GIT)
  • Knowledge and use of development IDE’s (Visual Studio)
  • Broad understanding of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office products
  • 1st / 2nd line support experience
  • Useful but not essential – an interest in travelling to and exploring other countries cultures
